Tokyo, Japan
Cool Lazy Fall Day
About a month ago I went for a walk to Daikanyama. I used Google maps to walk from my home in Akasaka to my goal which is the Tsutaya bookstore in Daikanyama. The weather was beautiful and the walk was enjoyable albeit it took me close to one hour to get to my destination. And what an invention Google Maps is! Great app for taking walks around Tokyo without getting lost.
And look what I found as I was getting near the heart of Daikanyama.... Urth Cafe from Los Angeles!! I can't believe it! Unfortunately I already had breakfast so didn't stop in for a bite. BUT definitely am going there in the near future for a breakfast burrito. Also found out they opened a store in Omotesando also. Really Tokyo is amazing, you can find outpost of many of the famous restaurants and retail stores from all over the world in this amazing city.
I also stopped by this store which is a new take on a grocery store. It was more like a museum but with some very interesting items like unique teas, jams and some very cool aprons.
When I made it to my destination T-Site Daikanyama
I was not disappointed. Very cool architecture with some fun shops. First shop that caught my eye was Green Dog where they had a photo shoot for your dogs. I take Yuki and Tobey to Green Dog in Tokyo Midtown for their grooming. The shop in T-site is smaller but very chic!
The layout of the buildings were amazing. There is also space for exhibitions. I went to this exhibition but it was a bit too avant-garde for me.
And of course, the popular Ivy Place Restaurant is located here and there was a long line of people waiting to get in.
And of course, the bookstore did not disappoint. Very very cool. I'll definitely go back there for some Xmas shopping. I discovered some very cool craft magazines from Europe that I bought including Kinfolk and Flow. I really like Flow which I ended up subscribing too! I haven't subcribed to a magazine in years!! but the magazine itself is art.
I took a photo of the escalator as there were neon signs on the steps indicating what you can find up the stairs. But unfortunately my iphone did capture the neon signs.
And of course, there is art work everywhere... actually all throughout Daikanyama.
And dressed up dogs
I really like Daikanyama. I've decided to do my Xmas shopping there. Not easy to get to via subway but with google maps, walking to Daikanyama is a cinch.
