Perfect Spring Day
Over Christmas holiday, my 16 year nephew invited me to attend the Cabaret show his classmates were putting on on St. Patrick's Day 2012. He was so excited and proud about what he and his classmates were planning on doing that I immediately made plane reservations to attend. And boy, was it worth it! It's amazing what these kids can do and the talent! I'm so so happy I made the effort to attend. And I am very proud of my nephew and his classmates for putting on a first class and very entertaining show.
Billy and his friend Ray were the emcees fo the show and they were great. Had great timing, very funny and fed off each other.
Here are some photos (not great cuz I forgot the correct lens) of the night.
Billy in his emcee tux
My sister, my brother in law's sister and I made chocolate dipped strawberries to sell during the Cabaret as a fund raiser. Since it was St Patrick's Day we added some "green".
Excitement before the show
Jackson and his classmates hung out on the bleachers (cheap seats!) We had a "reserved" table.
And here we go....
The opening act, a dance by the whole class with music from Bjork.
Billy and Ray in action
A fabulous A Cappella to Zombie Jamboree by Conrad Eugen Mauge. But before this there was a beautiful piano solo by Nicholas.. Unfortunately, I could not get a photo of him from where I was sitting.
A hilarious skit written by the performers
Billy and one of his best friends Andrew during "filler" time
A wonderful classical trio (again could not get a photo of the pianist). They played a classic from Haydn
A very cool dance by the entire class to music from Snoop Dogg to end the first act. During the intermission, they had a very touching slide show where they showed photos of the juniors as infants or toddlers transforming to what they are today.
The second act was kicked off by a few of the juniors performing Indescent by Linkin Park. They were awesome. Billy was playing drums but I could not get a good photo of him.
It was then followed by amazing aerial tissu and hoop show. I was blown away by the talent.
Then the girls dressed in green sang Mercy by Duffy
Followed by an AMAZING violin solo by Shanti who performed Scene de Ballet by Charles-Auguste de Benot
And the finale: A dance by the entire class to Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli
But another encore performance where they sang and played We are Young by Fun.
And then it was party time at Billy's! Pizza, tons of dessert and lots of fun!
Congratulation to the Class of 2013 for a fabulous show!! I'm so looking forward next year to their senior play.
