LAX, waiting for my flight to Tokyo
Sunny!
Yes, I'm travelling again. This time to Tokyo for business. I think I've developed a slight...er more than slight fear of flying as am nervous as hell about this flight. So am at the Delta Sky Lounge with a big glass of wine.
So while in Paris, Linda was open to do anything I wanted to do. At one point, I wanted to stay in bed all day but again, the fabulous drugs the fabulous pharmacist gave me worked its magic so I was up to doing something I've always wanted to do but somehow couldn't get it done. And that is, go to the Rodin museum. I've been to Paris at least 5 times but only once for fun. I can't remember why we didn't go to Rodin while I was on vacation last time in Paris but I believe because many of the main exhibits were "on loan". Lucky for me this time, all the famous sculptures were on display at the Rodin Museum this time. So Linda and I took the metro and got to the museum just as it opened.
It is located at the original Hotel Biron which was his workshop. He donated his whole collection, including the Hotel to the French government with the condition that the government turn the building to a museum to showcase his work. What a generous gift from arguably one of the greatest sculptors of the world.
The museum did not disappoint. It is gorgeous. And I loved the fact that one can get up close to the sculptures... even his masterpieces. I can't believe it took me this long to go there. I definitely will go there again and highly recommend it as a "must see" while in Paris.
Rodin's Masterpiece " The Thinker" was the first sculpture one sees when entering the museum. The grounds are just gorgeous!
The Kiss, up close. The photo does not do it justice. Amazing.

The Gates of Hell from afar
View of the gorgeous "backyard"
View of Rodin's "studio". What a fabulous place to have as a workshop. I need a place like this to start working on my book!
