Sunny Summer Weather
So the photos below depict a typical Saturday morning in Venice in January..... NOT! We're experiencing summer weather in January. Crazy. Especially since we had a cool, cool summer except for that one week where the temperatures topped 100F! Anyhow, after my 8am pilates class, I decided to go for a run along the boardwalk in Venice. Yes, I'm running again. But given my bad knee that is overdue for an operation, I am running SLOWLY. So am following the The Beginning Runner's Handbank 13 week program.
The boardwalk was bustling with people in shorts, T-shirts and bathing suits. It was like a typical weekend summer morning in Venice. I haven't spent time on the boardwalk in years so after the run, had some breakfast and then walked around for about 30 minutes. Forgot how funky and fun Venice can be. Here are some pics from the walk. Now, keep in mind, this is not a typical January weekend morning.
What? LA made in India?
And in Mexico?
Can't be Venice without some police action
LA Roadrunner's club was out in full force practicing for the LA Marathon
There are always some interesting things to see/buy
Including this guy, who wreaked of alcohol and was calling himself the Mexican Angel.
So these surfer dudes were speaking French
In between some seedy buildings were some very cool and modern homes. Not sure I'd like living on the boardwalk though.
And of course, the beach. It was not crowded as it was only 10 am or so, but I suspect, it was a busy day for lifeguards as the temps by the beach went into the 80s on Saturday.
Well, I enjoyed the day but I have to say, I like the cool winter weather of SoCal. The skies are clear and colorful and love bundling up and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. This "heatwave" is to last a week so by next weekend we should be back to normal winter temps of the mid 60s.
