JFK Airport, New York
Hot and Humid
Got to JFK early cuz was told they got me on the 5pm flight back to LA. Well, it was all a mistake, they said. So thought they'd at least bump me to first class but NO!!! And no free pass to the Admiral's Club so paid the 50 bucks and decided to catch up on blogging while waiting for the 730pm flight.
On my previous post, I mentioned Sandra and I went to Bazaar which is the hip new restaurant in LA. Well here's the report. We loved it! Service was great. Very nice people and very cool decor. Dark though but beautiful. We did not have a reservation but they have a tapas bar area which is first come, first serve. We got there around 630pm and got the last 2 seats available. The menu is tapas. But with a twist on traditional fare and some modern tapas including sushi inspired tapas. Fabulous wine menu with a very efficient staff. It can be pricey if you eat a lot of tapas but we found it reasonable for the quality of food. The restaurant won numerous awards including 4 stars from LA Times and I will definitely go back there again.
Here's what we had:
Traditional and Modern Olives: The traditional is on the left and stuffed with very good anchovies. The modern (the olives on the spoon) is a shock to the taste buds. It's made using molecular cooking technology. Hard to explain. Sandra did not like the texture. I loved it!
Bazaar's take on Ajo Blanco: really good and served with crab meat
Tuna Sushi Tapas: very delicate and yum!
Bunuelos: fritters made from salted codfish
Stuffed piquillo peppers with Goat Cheese: Was so engrossed in the food forgot to take the a photo so here's a half eaten one to the right. To the left is
Toasted bread with smashed tomatoes and manchego cheese. A Catalan version of bruschetta. When Nicky and I went to Spain a few years ago, we discovered that in Barcelona, bread was served this way in many restaurants.

Bazaar is my newest favorite restaurant in LA. Jeff and I went there for our birthday/anniversary dinner last October. The place blew us away!
BTW do you check your email? If not let me know, I will resend you message through FB.
