Santa Monica, CA
Sunny!
While waiting for my work laptop to be fixed, I decided to be productive and right this quick note on my Mac about one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in LA - La Seranata de Garibaldi. I've been to the original in downtown LA once but usually just go to the one in Santa Monica as it is closer to Malibu. One good excuse for going last weekend was that my friends from New York, Susan and Ray, were visiting. They spent a lot of time eating their way through the different Asian restaurants in So Cal during their one week visit so I thought it would be fun to go for some inexpensive, authentic and very good Mexican food. The food at La Seranata de Garibaldi is fantastic and so are the margaritas. For tequila fans, they have quite a selection of tequila. The tortillas are all home made but what they are most famous for are their salsas. They are just fabulous. I also believe they have one of the best mole sauces outside of Mexico.
But for this visit, although I was tempted to have the mole sauce, I went for the shrimp enchiladas in a cilantro salsa. So good! Ray and Susan had beef dishes and loved it. The salsas on our dishes were so good, that we cleaned our plates thoroughly with the homemade tortillas. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a unique and inexpensive Mexican restaurant.

The entrees were between 15-20 dollars and included tortilla chips with salsa and soup - a delicious celery soup
