Ritz Carlton Tokyo, Tokyo Midtown
Perfect Day
I had an appointment at the fancy Tokyo Midtown Clinic a couple of Wednesday's ago and ran into a friend while waiting to pay the bill. Since I haven't seen him in over 2 years we decided to catch up over lunch and went to Forty-Five, the French restaurant on the 45th floor of the Ritz Carlton in Tokyo Midtown. The restaurant has received favorable reviews and had a very good deal going on for the "ladies" - 5500 yen for an appetizer, soup, 2 entrees and all you can eat dessert. My friend Ron wanted to know if he could have the "ladies" lunch with me since it was a great deal. Well, this request caused issues which resulted in us waiting at our table for about 10 minutes where they agreed to make an exception.
But despite the fracas we caused, once everything was settled, we were treated to a very professional and courteous service . The food was very good except for the soup and the dessert buffet was awesome. Since we both had to go back to work, we did not linger but did find the time to enjoy one of the best cups of coffee I've had in a long time. Lovely views, enjoyable conversations and great food, what more can a "lady" ask for on a Wednesday afternoon?
Our first course was a very fresh seafood salad.
Followed by a very ordinary Peasant's soup.
But then came the mushroom and truffle risotto that was so delicious!
which was a perfect lead-in to the perfectly roasted chicken with tomato coulis and "grits" (can't remember what the fancy name was but it was the best tasting grits I've ever had)
Although we were full, we made our way to the dessert buffet, where I had the marron mouse special.
And we shared a plate of cookies and macarons with black French coffee.
The restaurant is quite open and airy with lots of space between tables for a nice conversation
And had fabulous views of Tokyo.
